Editing pages

Go to Entries and pick a section from the list, such as Pages or News. Then select the entry. Use the status filter to narrow things down: Live, Pending (scheduled for later), Expired, Disabled, Drafts or Trashed.

To add something, choose New entry. If a section has more than one kind of entry, pick the Entry type.

In a Pages section, drag entries to reorder them or to nest one page under another.

As you type, KanvasPro keeps your changes in a draft that only the control panel sees. The live page doesn’t change. The notice at the top says so: “You’re editing a draft of your changes.”

The indicator beside it shows where things are: Saving…, Draft saved, Saved, or Couldn’t save with Try again. If you lose your connection it says it will retry and catches up when you’re back online.

When you’re happy, choose Save (or press ⌘ S / Ctrl S). For a new entry the button says Create entry; for a named draft it says Publish draft. To throw your changes away, choose Discard changes.

Choose Preview to see the page as visitors will, beside your fields. It refreshes as your draft saves. Switch between Desktop, Tablet and Phone, or Open preview in a new tab.

From the ⋯ menu, Save as a new draft… keeps a separate draft you can come back to over several days. Save draft updates it. Rename draft… and Edit draft notes… help others understand what it’s for.

If your site uses reviews, you’ll see Submit for review. A reviewer then chooses Approve or Request changes.

In the Page settings card:

  • Post date in the future keeps the entry Pending until then.
  • Expiry date takes it down automatically.
  • Enabled switches it on or off straight away.

A draft can also be scheduled: Schedule publish…, pick a time under Publish at, then Schedule.

Every save keeps a revision. Open the version menu beside the title, or ⋯ › Revisions…. View shows an old version (read only), and Revert brings its content back. A short note in Notes about your changes helps you find a version later.

If someone else has the entry open you’ll see “Name is editing this entry”. If they save after you opened it, you’ll see Someone else saved this entry after you opened it. Choose Reload to get their version before carrying on.

Where your site has it, the SEO and answers panel sets the Meta title, Meta description and Share image. Social sharing sets what appears when the page is shared, and Search engine settings can hide a page from search engines.

⋯ › Delete moves an entry to the trash. Ask an admin if you need it back.
