Filling in a document
Open a print campaign and the pages appear in front of you. Anything you can change has an outline.
Typing
Section titled “Typing”Click any outlined text and type. Press Enter for a new paragraph and Shift Enter for a line break. Press Esc when you’re done.
Some text has a character limit. While you type, the ribbon shows how many you’ve used, for example 120/200.
Pasting from Word or an email? ⇧ ⌘ V (Paste as plain text) drops the outside formatting and takes on the style of the text you’re replacing.
The ribbon
Section titled “The ribbon”Across the top you’ll find Undo and Redo, zoom (Fit to window or 50–200%), the Paragraph style menu, Bold, Italic, Underline, Text colour, Link, lists, Columns, Insert image and Clear formatting.
Only the tools the designer allowed for that text work. A greyed-out button explains that the template keeps it off. That’s deliberate: it keeps the document on brand.
Styles panel lists the paragraph and character styles you can use.
Colours, moving and removing
Section titled “Colours, moving and removing”Where the template allows it:
- Colours: select an outlined shape and pick one of your brand colours. Template colour puts the original back.
- Moving and resizing: drag the outlined part. Arrow keys nudge it, and Shift moves it further. Put it back returns it to where the designer placed it.
- Taking parts out: Take out (or Remove this block) removes an optional part. Put back restores it.
- Pages and blocks: some documents let you Add a block or Insert a page here, and Remove page.
Placeholders
Section titled “Placeholders”Text the designer marked as a placeholder still needs your words. Placeholders in the ribbon lists them and jumps to each one. If a placeholder should stay as it is, tick Done: keep this text as it is. When there are none left it says Every placeholder is filled in.
Saving
Section titled “Saving”There’s no Save button: documents save themselves a moment after each change. The status beside the title tells you where things are:
- Saving… then Saved: all good.
- Not saved: text doesn’t fit: some text runs past its box. Shorten it and it saves again. N text boxes don’t fit shows you which.
- Not saved: changed elsewhere: someone else saved this document while you had it open. Your changes stay safe in this browser and are offered back when you reload.
- Not saved with Retry: usually a dropped connection.
If you close the tab before something saved, you’ll see You have changes from … that weren’t saved. next time. Choose Restore them or Discard them. These drafts live in the browser you were using.
